History
The first group of Spiritans arrived in Zambia in February 1971. They
were 6 Irish Spiritans who left Nigeria after the civil war in 1970.
They were joined by nine others in the next few years. The life of the
group reached a turning point in 1976 when the members of the EAP joined
the group.
From 1980 the number
of the Irish confreres began to decrease while that of EAP kept increasing.
The group was constituted an international group depending on the Generalate
in 1982. The Superior of the group was made a Major Superior in 1996.
