Within the US the
missionary activity focuses on parishes especially those that serve
the African Americans and Hispanics. Our educational apostolate is not
extensive but it is thriving notably in members of the province who
work in public and catholic high schools education and in the graduate
School of Theology at the University of St Thomas, Houston, Texas. One
of our members directs the Center for the Study of Culture and Faith
in the University of St Thomas.
Our parochial apostolate is in a variety of locations, principally in
Arkansas, Louisana, Texs, California and Utah.
|
We have clustered
our regional communities in these areas. Some consolidation of the province
took place recently involving the relocation of the province to Houston
Texas.Our
regional communities meet regularly for social, business meetings as
well as for days of recollection. The annual retreat is an important
event in the life of the province and is well attended.
A significant development
in the last few years has been the welcoming of Vietnamese immigrants
to our Province as candidates for the Congregation.

The first to be
professed Fr Binh The Quach, ha already helped inhas
already helped in facilitating our ministry to the Vietnamese community
throughout the western US. Three other Vietnamese were professed last
August. This marks a new experience of God's favour and it is a transcultural
challenge for a new integration of the Province. Spiritans from other
provinces are helping with the formation programme.
This year the Province
celebrates 30 years of independent existence. We are a young province
open to new mission initiatives.
