These
men working in the different dioceses keep the Spiritan presence before
the people especially in areas where we have no other kind of presence.
School Chaplains
Twelve Spiritans are involved in school chaplaincy. Chaplains in schools
are key players in the delivery of education. The chaplain has a positive
role to play in the developing the full potential of young people:
physical, psychological, spiritual and religious. The chaplain also
has a unique role to play in coordinating the pastoral care provided
by teachers and the different support systems on offer from the wider
community. School chaplains have a most important role to play in
effecting the holistic development of pupils.

Hospital
Chaplains.
Ten Spiritans serve as hospital chaplains in the following hospitals:
National Rehabilitation, Peamount, St. Joseph's Longford, St. James',
Clonskeagh,St. Michael's Dun-Laoghaire, St. Loman's, St. Vincent's,
St. John of God and Royal Hospital.
Chaplaincy is about 'faith presence'. The Chaplain is one who is animated
by a close relationship with Christ. Through the strength of this relationship
the chaplain, in turn, is in a position to become a faith presence for
others. This means being with others and paying attention to the quality
of that being with. The chaplain, as faith presence, is open, accepting,
respecting, sharing, compassionate and invitatory.

Pastoral
care outreach
Mission and ministry often takes place at the margins of society,
often it is not mainstream and can be overlooked by those at the center.
Mission and ministry is always humble faithfulness to the example
of Jesus, service in the style of a servant.
