Spiritan responses to JPIC issues in Ireland are deeply rooted in Christian values. Justice is understood in terms of correct relationships with God, people and the environment. We believe that a just society is one that is structured in such a way as to promote these right relationships so that human rights are defended, human dignity is promoted, human development is facilitated and the environment is respected and protected. |

An Tobar is a residential meeting place in Ardbraccan, Co. Meath. It aims to:

Education is the oldest Spiritan ministry in Ireland emphasises ethos issues in our schools. The involvement of students in JPIC concerns makes the Gospel central in the life of the school community. Already students from some of the schools have visited a number of African countries, meeting Spiritans ministering there. Students contribute to many JPIC projects especially through fund- JPIC-related projects.

Integrity of Creation (IC): |

In recent years Spiritans have invested in developing a consciousness of the importance of the environment. Following this a series of six booklets was produced. These were then distributed throughout the Spiritan Province and the theme of “Integrity of Creation” was also incorporated into Provincial events. Kimmage Development Studies Centre (KDSC) |

Founded by the Spiritans in 1974, Kimmage DSC facilitates learning and critical reflection on development practice with people working for social justice and equitable change, both in Ireland and internationally. The programmes on offer – at BA degree and MA and PG Diploma levels - combine theory and practice using a combination of formal and non-formal teaching methodologies. The Centre also runs DTALK Learning (www.dtalk.ie), a capacity-training programme for development workers in Irish NGOs and missionary organisations and the KODE (Kimmage Open and Distance Education) programme (www.kodeonline.com), which offers online and blended learning opportunities.

This is part of the Spiritan presence in the Clondalkin area of Dublin while a Spiritan specializing in trauma-treatment provides a weekly service to SPIRASI, gives workshops and training to therapists involved in other centres dealing with asylum seekers, and is a trainer in the REAP Team of the Irish Missionary Union which offers returned missionaries week-long programmes.

SPIRASI (Spiritan Asylum Services Initiative) |

Set up in 1999, SPIRASI offers newcomers into Irish society a variety of rehabilitation support services including an integrated English language programme. Services may be directly delivered or partnership-provided and include care of survivors of torture as well as psychosocial support and a referral service to asylum-seeker accommodation.

CABI is a registered company supporting Brazilian migrants, workers and students in Ireland. The main support offered is translation and negotiation skills for people in need as well as information about rights and entitlements. A pastoral ministry celebrates Masses, baptisms, weddings and funerals. |
