The Spiritan Memorial Chapel, which has been developed in
Our Lady's transept in Kimmage Manor Church, is a response to the
desire in the Irish Province to remember our dead with dignity, to
honour them and pray for them.
Around the chapel walls are panels upon which the names of all
our deceased confreres, Irish or very closely connected with the
Irish Province, are written in gold leaf. The list of names is in
chronological order of death.
It is hoped above all that this Memorial will express the pride
we have in the missionary achievements of the Spiritan Missionaries
and the people who promoted their work, supported them and collaborated
with them. The real monument is the great number of communities
in many countries which were born through the preaching of the gospel.

May all those
remembered in this Spiritan Memorial Chapel reap the rich rewards
of their labours in heaven.
This Necrology
includes all deceased members of the Congregation:
 |
who
were Irish by birth, associated with the Irish Province and
those from other Provinces who were closely associated with
us, many of whom are buried in Ireland.

It
does not presume to include the names of all those from other Provinces
who worked for some time in Ireland.
|
It has not always
been easy to establish the exact day of death in each case. Generally
we adhere to the 'official date', that is the date indicated by
the Generalate in its announcements.
The place-name
after each entry indicates where a confrere died rather than his
place of work.
A short biographical
note on our deceased Prelates has been added at the end.
In the list
of Deceased Professed Students there are some doubts that all of
those mentioned were actually professed. Again, some may have been
omitted who were professed in articulo
mortis but of whose profession no record was kept.
